Promoting the exchange between families and doctors
The project is run by PCH2cure, a charity that aims to raise understanding, find therapies and improve the quality of life for children with Pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 2 (PCH2).
PCH2 is an extremely rare genetic disease for which no treatment is yet available.
The Cruise4Life is a biannual meeting that aims to show that children with severe multiple disabilities can participate in ‘normal’ life and, together with their families, are an important part of society.
The trip brings together children diagnosed with PCH2, their families and two guests (often caregivers, teachers or doctors) as a community to foster understanding and provide advice, particularly for new parents. The cruise also provides an opportunity for research and scientific work to both improve the quality of life for these children today, but to also ultimately, find a cure for the disease.

To gain an insight into what a trip like this means to the parents and children involved, Markus Ott is keeping a fantastic live blog of the trip with his son Philipp and their family.
